Police Training Courses
In association with a consortium of senior and experienced British police trainers, BBSI offers professional international police training courses in many specialist fields. Police training courses can be conducted either in the UK (in English) or overseas (via a translator), and are tailored to meet the precise requirements of the Client and to meet national and international police training standards.
Our UK police training courses are structured to ensure that participants receive focused, appropriate, nationally-recognised and practical police training, specifically relevant to their respective roles and responsibilities. Moreover, all police training courses are designed to enhance both the knowledge and practical skills of the participants so as to improve their practical effectiveness and efficiency in an operational environment.
Evaluation of our police training is an essential and important element, which supports training delivery. BBSI therefore also provides an independent Evaluation Service that examines both the effectiveness of individuals in the workplace and also the subsequent benefits to the sponsor organisation.
Client Needs Analysis
Often, prior to conducting large police training programmes for clients, our senior specialists are invited to conduct a Needs Analysis of local training requirements. Such a project can take 7-14 working days, depending on the precise requirement. However, the results can be extremely cost effective by targeting police training to meet specific needs.
Scope.
A Needs Analysis examines the current processes and facilities and identifies precise training requirements. The objective is to develop knowledge of current professional practice and compare the outcomes with the advanced levels of knowledge currently available internationally. The Analysis Team reviews and examines current practises within the target areas and makes recommendations in support of strategic plans to improve knowledge and skills within specific Force specialisations, to enhance overall performance within those specialisations and to improve service delivery by the Force as a whole.
Advantages.
By identifying precise training requirements, a Needs Analysis enables clients to benefit from ´bespoke´ police training courses designed to meet local needs. This method of approach is considerably more efficient and cost effective than that of merely accepting generic ´off-the-shelf´ training that might be of limited effectiveness.
Methodology.
Evaluation and examination is conducted by way of visits by the Needs Analysis Team to the various target departments within the Force and by means of focussed interviews with appropriate personnel. The Team examines materials, equipment, facilities, administration, organisation, command and control structure, current policing strategies, other background information et al and, most importantly, assesses training needs.
Outcome.
On conclusion of a Needs Analysis, specialists submit a written report to the Client that contains short, medium and long-term recommendations to meet future training needs, and includes course outlines for effective training courses. The process supports the view that all police training must stem from the same doctrine. Future training therefore becomes focussed and relevant.
